Pseudo Sonic is a Badnik version of Sonic the Hedgehog created by Dr. Robotnik. It appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog episode "Pseudo Sonic". Unlike the other Badniks in the cartoon, Pseudo Sonic was not sentient and relied on a pilot to operate it.

History[]

Robotnik built the Pseudo Sonic mech in order to frame the real Sonic as a criminal. The mech was operated by a rat called Lawrence, whom Robotnik had captured and forced into the Pseudo Sonic by threatening his parents. Begrudgingly, Lawrence donned the Pseudo Sonic suit and went on a crime spree, thus ruining Sonic's reputation.

After Pseudo Sonic and the real Sonic race each other and end up falling into a field of poisonous flowers, both Sonic and Lawrence fall ill and are incapacitated. Tails decides to take the Pseudo Sonic suit and use it to rescue Lawrence's parents from Robotnik's fortress. With unexpected help from an ailing Sonic and the stupidity of Scratch and Grounder, Tails succeeds in saving Lawrence's parents. The Pseudo Sonic suit is destroyed during the rescue. Afterwards, Sonic is cleared of all charges.

Abilities[]

Pseudo Sonic possesses the same abilities as the real Sonic the Hedgeog, namely extreme running speed and spin attacks.

Appearances in other media[]

Archie Comics[]

Main article: Pseudo Sonic (Archie)

Pseudo Sonic was the first Sonic-based robot created by Dr. Robotnik. Unlike the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog version, the Archie version was a fully sentient robot that did not require an operator inside it. After failing to defeat Sonic in their initial encounter, Pseudo Sonic was discarded by Robotnik and found his way to the Island of Misfit Badniks.

Trivia[]

  • Pseudo Sonic is the only Badnik in the cartoon that requires a living subject inside to operate it, whereas most of the Badniks from the Sonic game series had organic batteries.
