Mixmaster is the Constructicons' materials fabricator. He takes a perverse pleasure in reducing metallic ores and even other robots into raw materials within his mixing drum. The other Decepticons often wonder if Mixmaster's logic circuits need fine-tuning, what with the way he cackles with sadistic delight as he converts cars and Autobots into mortar for his team's latest anarchistic architecture.
History[]
G1 cartoon and movie[]
In the original Transformers cartoon series, there are conflicting accounts of the origins of Mixmaster and the other Constructicons. In the episode "Heavy Metal War", it is mentioned that Megatron had created the Constructicons on Earth. This is contradicted in a later episode, "The Secret of Omega Supreme", which shows that the Constructicons were Cybertronian architects who had been reprogrammed by Megatron's Robo-Smasher. Another contradictory account from "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4" claims that Mixmaster was involved with Megatron's creation.
Heavy Metal War[]
Mixmaster and the other Constructicons made their first appearance in this episode, aiding Megatron with his plan to defeat the Autobots through the manipulation of Cybertron law. They built a contraption that would take the power-chip rectifiers of the other Decepticons and imbue Megatron's body with their powers. Thus, Megatron would have an unfair advantage when he challenged Optimus Prime to "honourable" combat.
The Constructicons would later attempt to infiltrate the Autobots' headquarters and gain access to Teletraan-I, but were thwarted by the Dinobots. They demonstrated their true power by combining into Devastator, but the Dinobots and Optimus were still able to defeat them, driving them into a lava-filled fissure.
City of Steel[]
Mixmaster and the other Constructicons aided Megatron with his conquest of New York City by converting the Empire State Building into a Cybertronian fortress.
The Core[]
While trying to dig to the Earth's core, Mixmaster got a dominator disk stuck on him so that when he helped form Devastator, the combiner was brought under Autobot control. After Devastator sealed the Decepticons in a tunnel and helped rebuild some of the Autobot base, Megatron then revealed he knew of the Autobot plan to take control of the Constructicons, and deactivated the disks. After a fight for control, Devastator went berserk. After a joint Autobot/Decepticon effort, Devastator was brought under Decepticon control and helped to save the day.
The Master Builders[]
The Constructicons, led by Scrapper, convinced Hoist and Grapple that they wanted to aid the two Autobots in a construction project to build a solar tower. While building the tower, they explained to Megatron that they were still loyal to him, and once the tower was built, they would turn it over to him. Once the tower was complete, they did just that. ...Then he and the other Constructicons, as Devastator, wrecked it.
Transformers: The Movie[]
In 2005, Mixmaster and the other Constructicons joined Megatron's assault on Autobot City. Combining into Devastator, they demolished the city's defences, but Autobot reinforcements then arrived and the combiner was forced to battle the Dinobots.
After Megatron had fallen in battle against Optimus Prime, the Decepticons retreated aboard Astrotrain. Unable to get back to Cybertron due to carrying too much mass, he requested that his comrades lighten their load. Thus the injured Decepticons - including Megatron - were cast out into space. Once Megatron was gone, the Decepticons began fighting amongst themselves for leadership of the faction, a fight which Starscream (somehow) won.
