The Cyberdisc is a mechanical alien from the XCOM video game series. Its exact nature is unknown; it may be a robotic construct or a cybernetic organism. It appears as a flat, metallic, circular disc about the size of a small car, floating eerily around the battlefield. It has a greater range of movement than any other unit in XCOM: Enemy Unknown and transforms into a nightmarish, spider-like form when it is about to attack. Cyberdiscs are quite tough and are difficult to defeat without laser or plasma weaponry. They are usually accompanied by Drones in the field which will offer supporting fire and can also repair any damage the Cyberdisc sustains.
Abilities[]
- Airborne - The Cyberdisc can float over any obstacles.
- Hardened - Whilst in Transit Mode, the Cyberdisc is less likely to suffer a critical hit.
- Evasion - The Cyberdisc is more evasive while in Transit Mode.
- Cyberdisc Cannon - In Assault Mode, the Cyberdisc attacks using a twin-barreled repeating energy cannon. This weapon is very accurate and XCOM troops equipped with only standard armour stand little chance of surviving this attack.
- Bombard - The Cyberdisc uses its tail in Assault Mode to lob an Alien Grenade. This explosive deals 5 damage to all targets caught in its blast radius.
- Death Blossom - In Transit Mode, the Cyberdisc can project an energy field that damages all units in the immediate vicinity. This attack has a 3 turn cooldown.
- Robotic - As a mechanical unit, the Cyberdisc is immune to poison, fire and mind control. It is also immune to the Arc Thrower, making it impossible for XCOM forces to capture it intact.
