The Clone Wars logo
The Clone Wars are a series of conflicts that are a pivotal point in the history of the Star Wars Galaxy. The war was fought between the clone armies of the Galactic Republic - the Galaxy's leading power - and the Confederacy of Independent Systems who used battle droids to make up their military forces. The Confederacy were a group of separatists who had become dissatisfied with the corruption in the Galactic Senate and sought to overthrow the Republic in order to cleanse it of corruption. Little did either side know was that the main source of that corruption - the Sith lord Darth Sidious - was using both sides to destabilize political and social structure across the Galaxy as a means of destroying the Jedi Order and assuming leadership over the Galaxy himself. As history records, the Republic's reorganization into the Galactic Empire is what brought about the end of the Separatist movement and brought the Clone Wars to a close.
